The Importance Of Fresh Fruit & Vegetables

Right from my cradle days i have always watched as my mother ensures the inclusion of green vegetables and fruits into our meals and i have often wondered why!!!

Studies has shown that diets rich in fresh fruit & vegetables lowers the risk of certain cancers, heart disease and other chronic diseases and conditions.

Many fresh fruits & vegetables have high amounts of many antioxidant vitamins, including vitamin A, vitamin E and vitamin C. In addition to their importance as source of vitamins and minerals, fruits and vegetables also provide essential dietary fiber.

This forms the major reason for the recommendation that everyone increase their consumption of fruits and vegetables as many of these foods have been shown to have strong antioxidant qualities.

Majority of us agrees on the importance of eating more fresh fruits & vegetables, but how many of us follow this important advice is a question we need to ask ourselves. Experts in dietary components recommend that every person should eat at least five servings of fresh fruits & vegetables every day. Increasing your consumption of fruits and vegetables is one of the easiest changes you can make to increase your level of health, lose weight and gain fitness.

The importance of fresh fruits & vegetables need not be over-emphasised, they have a lot of advantages besides just their nutritional importance.
They taste great and add a great deal of variety to everyday meals. They have also been known to come in such a wide variety of colors, textures and flavors that they can be used in virtually every meal.

If you are one of those seeking to maximize your consumption of fruits and vegetables, you should better get into the habit of using fruits in salads, as toppings, as garnishes and a host of other varieties in foods.

Today as a full grown adult i have come to realise that a life devoid of fruits and vegetables is as good as gone, what is your take on this? Care to share it??????????.
